The “opposing-flux” rule is a textbook special case for closed, linear, smooth-change loops between two coils. These are working interpretations that explain the anomalous data without invoking magic. Each one is consistent with extended electrodynamics and open-system thermodynamics.
In a high-Q LC tank, reactive energy oscillates between L and C. The cone acts as capacitor + inductor simultaneously. That reactive energy can be 'tapped' without the source seeing the load. This is what breaks the classical expectation: the source sees no opposition because the extraction is not in its loop.
